Ways on How to Stop Dog from Biting
There are several reasons why a dog would bite. To effectively stop dog biting, it is essential that these reasons are well understood.
In most cases, it is more difficult to train an adult dog. Therefore, this requires longer time of training. The breed could be a useful tool for owners to know if the dog is difficult to train or not.
Some pets may bite out of fear. The problem can be solved by allowing the dog to mingle with others. Owners must let their canines mingle with other dogs. But this should be done over time. Putting the dogs on leashes will help keep them more under control. Soon, your pet will be accustomed in mingling with other dogs and people and this will eliminate the biting.
There are also dogs that bite not because they are afraid but because they want to be the boss. In this case, owners can use muzzles to prevent the canines biting. In this way, the canine will know that biting is not good. Owners can strengthen the training by teaching the dogs some verbal cues to stop it from biting.
Sometimes, the dog bites because it is just overly excited. To avoid these dogs from biting, owners should also avoid playing games that would increase the dog’s excitement. Observing the dog while playing will help in this program. When the dog starts to be excited or aggressive during playing, the game should be stopped.
There are cases when the owners are not able to stop the dog from biting. But it is not the time to give up. When the dog still continues to bite even after a long training, the best thing to do is to educate and inform the people around. If the dog will have close contacts with humans or other animals, restrain the dog with leash and if possible, put a muzzle on.
In all training activities, the important things to remember are to always give rewards and praises and avoid punishments.
Owners should be persistent in the training. In the long run, owners will benefit the most in this activity. Once owners are able to learn how to stop dog biting, they are not only saving their dogs from possible dog euthanasia, but also saving themselves from complaints, medical bills and other expenses caused by dog biting.
Do all that you can do. Unfortunatly I am sorry to say, some dogs may not be able to be cured.
