Paddington Pet Sitter

Paddington Pet Sitter

I had a great time out with Marlene, our Paddington Pet Sitter on Friday. She was looking after a couple of lovely Pomeranian dogs. Slightly outside her normal area of Bayswater and Paddington, but with two lovely dogs not a problem.

The Pomeranians were not a breed that we had experience of, so did some research on them prior to starting with them, which we have put on the web site. Those with experience of them are right in giving the Pomeranian such a good write up as a friendly toy dog with a varied Royal past, being owned by Queen Victoria amongst others.

I met up with her and the dogs in the nearby Fulham Bishops Park, smaller than the giant Hyde Park that Paddington dog walkers are used to. Bishops Park is beautifully located by the River Thames going down from Craven Cottage down to Putney Bridge. We went around a few times and the Pomeranian or Poms are surprisingly active for a toy dog, they were on the move for a good hour as we wanted to take some photos of them to go with the breed article. Not helped by my dog photography.

Bishops Park is certainly a great place to walk dogs, or break a walk along the Thames. It dates back to the end of the nineteenth century and is of specific historical interest and is maintained by English Heritage. There is the memorial for the International Brigade who fought in the Spanish Civil War.

Bishops Park has a couple of enclosed areas for dogs to be let loose in, unless they are some dogs like the Pomeranians that can go through the gaps in the fence. They however had good fun with a new friend a poodle / Labrador cross puppy, who was four times the size of our dogs.

Being Pomeranians we had to be careful with them jumping, as they are prone to leg injuries. We had some fun with some training of the Pomeranians, trying to get them to sit for their treats. At least there was some improvement.

It was a shame to say goodbye to them but, Marlene had to head off to her Bengal Cats she was looking after.
