Akita Training Tips

While training an Akita dog, (whether American or Japanese), it’s important to understand both its personality and the health issues of the breed. Akita dogs can be very beautiful and charming dogs. Many people think Akita look more like bears than dogs. While training your Akita, its small heart size is only one of the many things you need to keep in mind. If your Akita is still a puppy, you will likely want to start with some puppy house training tips. Then tips for how to stop dog aggression should be implemented. While training Akita dogs, keep in mind that there are very intelligent and loyal, but can be prone to boredom behaviors if not properly exercised and entertained.

Aggressive Dog Training
In order to avoid dog aggression issues, Akita training programs need to include socializing your dog with other animals at a young age. America Akita training does, however, stress the need to stop dog aggression when it comes to Akita dogs. Although rare, Akita aggression has been documented against other dogs and even occasionally children. To stop aggressive dog tendencies in your pup, just make sure that you are conducting the right Akita obedience training. It is also really important that your dog realizes that YOU are the boss, not them. Because dogs are pack animals, they are constantly attempting to judge their place in the hierarchy of the pack, (in this case, your home). The best way to stop dog aggression during Akita obedience training is to make it very clear that you are top dog, not them.

Top Akita Puppy Training: Like most puppy training, Akita puppy training should focus on socialization and puppy house training. When bringing home any new dog, whether an adult dog or puppy, it is important to lay down the rules of the house as quickly as possible. Your home tour should include taking them to the place you expect them to learn to go potty and then saying your potty cue-word or phrase. When house training a puppy, take them to the same spot every time and they should get the picture. Puppy accidents are bound to happen, but don’t rub their face in “it”. Rubbing a dog’s face in their “accident” will NOT help you potty train your puppy and it can damage your relationship with your pup. And try to be objective about the situation.
