Barking is a natural behavior of dogs and guarding dogs and hounds are specifically trained to bark. However, even professed dog lovers are pestered by the excessive barking of the dog. Dogs have many behavioral issues but excessive barking is considered to be the most difficult to modify. A dog owner may be tolerant of the noise made by the pet but other people would certainly go nuts. How will you deal with the incessant noise of the neighbor’s dog that pre4vents you from having a good night’s rest?
This is a tricky situation given the fact that you have no control over the neighbor’s dog. Shooting or hurting the dog is not an option unless you are prepared to be slapped with a legal suit. The incessant barking must be stopped if you want to have a good night’s sleep. Complaining about the noisy dog would never be easy and pleasant as you need to maintain good relationship with the neighbor that will be next door for years.
Talk to the neighbor about their noisy dog but be sure you are not in the attack mode. You can air your complaints but be sure to keep the neighbor as a friend and not an enemy. Talking a mile a minute in an irritated voice will rile the neighbor and make him defensive. You may want to keep notes of the visit to the neighbor’s and of the dates and times when the dog has kept you up all night. These records will be needed if you decide to take the problem to the authorities.
If you really want peace but hesitant to have an altercation with the neighbor then you can make use of technology by dipping in your pocket and installing an ultrasonic device. More often than not, dogs that bark excessively are kept outdoors. An ultra sonic barking device can be set up in your own yard and every time the dog barks it will send out a shrill piercing sound that can only be heard by dogs and not by people. The dog will stop barking as soon as it makes a connection between the shrill sound and its barking
You still have another option if technology fails and if your neighbor ignored your complaint. Your neighbor has the right to own a dog but you also have the right to live in a peaceful environment. The next course of action is to take the matter to the authorities and bring in the animal control people or the local police.
