When you take home a yorkie, it simply means that you’re aware and all set to fulfill the obligations expected from a yorkie owner – one of the most important responsibilities is yorkie training. Every dog enthusiast is probably aware of the significance of training. But for the benefit of everybody, particularly those who are planning to get a pet any time soon, training is what causes a dog to behave in ways tolerable by his human buddies.

There are lots of lessons or tricks a dog can learn during training:

Potty training
This one is a must! If you don’t want to spend around one decade cleaning after your pet’s mess or purchasing new carpet every now and then, potty training should be done immediately. There are lots of tools you can use to make potty training easy – one is crate. By crating and taking your pet to his specified toilet every hour or so, you are helping him develop regular potty routine.

Obedience training
Through obedience training, a dog gets to learn many commands like sit, stay and come. These commands are important in keeping your pet safe particularly if he is off leash or in public spots such as dog parks. For instance, your pet loves to chase and you see a speeding vehicle approaching. Giving the command sit and then stay is more likely to prevent him from running after the vehicle therefore eliminates the odds of him getting hit by the car. Commands like heel and fetch are also typically taught during yorkie training.

Trick training
A dog that is reliably trained with basic commands gives joy and pride to his owner. What more if the pet knows how to carry out entertaining tricks like rollover and play dead? Additionally, it can entertain others too.

Yorkie training activities are not limited to potty training, obedience training and trick training only. Despite it’s small size, a yorkie can be trained to do agility, hiking and even become a therapy dog. You just need to know the best training strategies to be able to reach your training objective.
