In most cases, the first things that come to mind when accessories for dogs are mentioned are collars and leashes. These are the most basic accessories you can get, yet many of the collars and leashes available today have features that can help you with tasks that are far from basic. There is a wide variety of leash, collar and electronic collar choices available today, including harmless electric shock dog training collars and remote training systems.

Most people associate dog collars with protection and identification, but there are actually a lot of differences that come into play. One thing to consider is material; basic buckle collars can come in a variety of them, including nylon and leather, and this may be an important aspect of the collar to consider if your dog has any allergies, for example. There are other kinds of collars, of course; these include flea collars, break-away collars, stud collars, and Elizabethan collars (the cone-shaped ones that prevent dogs from scratching injured areas). Among the more popular products are Casual Canine deluxe bad-to-the-bone nylon dog collar.

The other big category of dog collar is the training collar. Training collars are used to help with different aspects of the training process. They each have their own ways of helping dogs learn specific types of behaviour. Popular types of training collars include: prong collars, which have small prongs that will gently pinch the skin around a dog’s neck when tightened; choke collars, which can be tightened as required by pulling the leash attachment briefly; and electronic collars (also known as e-collars), which can produce vibrations, electric impulses, or other sensations when certain conditions, such as the dog going outside of the designated area, are triggered.

Leashes and leads are also available in a number of materials; which one is best for your dog can depend on a number of factors. One specialized option is the retractable leash or lead, which doesn’t get tangled up, will allow your dog a more freedom to roam, but will still stay taut at all times and give you control even at long distances. There are many experienced leash manufacturers out there and they make a wide variety of products including stylish large medium and small deluxe retractable dog training leashes

There’s a lot more to dog collars and leashes than holding tags or keeping your dog close. You might be surprised by the things you can do with a specialty leash or collar, and chances are, you can benefit from some of the things that these accessories have to offer.

My family run an animal sanctuary in Birmingham, England. There at times when we feel like tearing our hair out as some of the owners really could do with one hell of a shake; they certainly are not fit to look after a dog and some are just so uncaring it defies belief. They should not be seen as just a bit of fun which they can then get rid of when they get bored.

I personally do not become too involved with it all as it can be rather upsetting at times. I work in other sectors including upvc doors, offering a how to stop stuttering course and advising people about medical negligence claims.

Many people arrive at the animal sanctuary with their pets, which are mainly dogs, with many excuses as to why they are no longer able to look after or care for them. I am sure many of their reasons are valid but am also aware that many others are just an excuse to offload them.

The excuses they give are varied:

I have recently divorced from my husband and can no longer afford to keep this dog as a pet.

The dog has started to bite my children

The dog is too difficult to handle and is destroying my furniture

We are no longer living in a house; we are now living in a top floor flat. One of their rules is that no animals can live in these flats

I have had complaints from the local residents as they say that the dog barks too much

We have a number of cats and rabbits who are really not taking to our dog

The dog is affecting my health

I am too ill to look after my dog

We also keep many of the dogs as our own pets, especially the ones which nobody else seems to want. I would have to say that my favourite out of all of these dogs is a dog called Cassie. She is full of life and has been ill treated it seems when she was a puppy. Half of her left ear is missing and she is seemingly quite afraid of men.

At the outset Cassie had to be treated with a lot of love and sincerity as she had a real lack of trust in human beings. She can be too lively at times which is possibly why three people who attempted to re-home her, have bought her back. She is not aggressive in any way but does tend to jump up at people.

Cassie has proven to be a welcome addition to our family and she is now really starting to feel at home; she certainly loves all of the toys that we have bought her.

With a little more patience most other dogs can turn out this way. This is why we want more people to take more responsibility and to give their animals more of a chance to settle into their homes, and to get used to a new set of rules.

If you are looking for a way to stop your dogs bad behavior for once and for all, you have come to the right site.

You will find secrets to stop any dog from, barking, biting, chewing, whining, jumping, even ways to control his aggressive or skittish behaviour

It does not matter if you just brought a new puppy home, who you need to teach to house train quickly or stop his biting, or if you have an older dog, you can help get rid of all the bad behaviour and teach him to be the dog you would be proud to take anywhere.

It does not matter the size of your dog, whether it is a small breed, such as Jack Russell, chihuahua, etc., or even a bigger breed, such as a Saint Bernard or Newfoundland Dog, you will learn to stop the bad behaviour.

Your dog will learn that you are in Control without any yelling or intimidation. You can learn to correct your dogs bad behaviour without using negative words, such as telling him what a bad dog he is. Your dog will no longer challenge you, because you will learn to be the strong leader you need to be.

Now you can teach your dog when it is ok to bark, no more middle of the night barking at everything that moves.

It would be so good if you could just have your dog sit patiently for you to feed him and wait for your command that it is ok to now eat.

You can learn to teach your dog how to behave properly when you are going for a walk, without him tearing on the leash trying to get at some other dog or squirrel or even a car.

No more having to fix a neighbours garden that your dog just dog up.

You can learn to train just about any dog and get rid of all his bad behaviour and teach him some neat tricks, without having to pay high prices for obedience school or hiring a professional.

Have your neighbors nag about your dog’s barking when you leave for work? A bark collar could clear up all of those issues. The kind of barking your dog does with no special reason is known as problem barking. This barking can go on at all hours of the day and night and is often particularly unceasing. No particular stimulus exists; your dog just barks. He may notice something in the yard, be scared by lightening, or like to bark at the trucks, whatever the cause, he just won’t stop.

There are many different types of techniques that people use to try to decrease nuisance barking. The younger your dog is the easier the training will go. If you have missed the point of no return, it will take time and consistency to find out the reason he barks and to stop the barking.

If you see your dog is barking out of boredom, that can be conveniently fixed with spending more time with him or her, buy them stuffed animals, and other simple ways to keep them busy. If they are fearful, find ways to make them feel calmer, such as providing them with a comfortable kennel. If, however, you determine that the barking is a result of them being a very vocal dog, then training is more likely to succeed.

Excessive barking is one of the most popular reasons that people relinquish their dogs to shelters. It is such a disappointment that a natural behavior gone awry causes so many problems. The saying, “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” doesn’t have to be a reality. With a lot of time and aspiration, you can teach your dog to do cartwheels. You can speed your progress and improve your odds of success by adding a bark collar to your training process.

Dog bark collars don’t replace your involvement. You use them in agreement with training. Bark Collars come in many models, but two lead the pack. The spray collar uses a citronella based spray that squirts your dog in the face when the sensor picks up the shaking caused by barking or whining. The e-collar, or electric collar, uses the same type of prongs, but sends a small electric correction to the dog when barking persist past a specific time frame. The intensity on the bark collar is compared to the shock you get when you rub your socks across the carpet and touch something else. It doesn’t hurt but it will certainly get there attention.

Every collar is made for different breeds of dogs and come in a variety of styles, models, and styles. You should make sure you choose an relevant collar, especially if you have a small pet. There are no bark collars suitable for a dog younger than the age of six months or weigh less than three pounds. Only one collar goes down to three pounds; the majority start at seven pounds. Make sure the collar is large enough to fit around your dog’s neck snuggly. While your dog is wearing his collar, you can start training. When your dog begins to bark persistently, say your verbal commands with a firm voice. If they continue, the receiver will give a slight shock. If your dog stops barking when you tell him to, be sure to praise him and give him a treat.

Only make your dog wear the collar when it is necessary. Sometimes the prongs on the collars can put blisters on your dogs necks if they wear it for a period of time.

You may know how to housebreak a puppy, housebreaking a grown dog is much the same. However there are certain differences to housebreaking a dog which you should be aware of. Adult dogs aren’t like puppies because they can control their bladder and keep from having accidents when they get excited. But when housebreaking any dog, the key to success is patience, praise and lots of love.

The first thing to do is buy dog crate for your new pet at the local pet shop. This won’t just help you housebreak the dog, but it will keep them from getting into trouble. Since accidents do happen, why not buy some cleaning supplies, while you’re shopping for a crate.

The second you get your dog home, the housebreaking program begins. Rather than introducing the dog to the people in the house, take him first to visit his brand new yard. Let him thoroughly explore the yard to get used to his surroundings. Due to the excitement of the experience it could take a while before the dog goes to toilet. However do not take the dog inside the house until it has gone to the toilet. When he relieves himself, give him lots of praise for doing so.

Remember that accidents will happen at the start so do not get annoyed when they do. The two main reasons that your dog may have accidents are the new environment and new diet. Chances are the dogs diet will change now he has new owners, therefore it may affect his digestion. So, its always wise to take Fido outside often as he adjusts to his new diet. Do not think you are failing when accidents occur, they are expected.

Whatever you do, don’t yell at the poor pup if he makes a mistake. This is the biggest mistake you can make. It isn’t necessarily your dog’s fault, because he might not have been able to tell you that he had to go to the bathroom. Take it outside straight away and let it finish, then clean up the accident. Its important to rid the spot of the odor. That way you won’t have any repeat accidents in the same place.

Soon your pet will develop his own routine. After all, dogs are creatures of habit. Work out a potty routine that is good for the dog and for you as well. Your dog will have to use the bathroom on a regular basis during the day, so you will have to adjust your schedule to meet your dog’s needs and also adjust when you feed him. Keep in mind you might have to change your schedule during the training process.

By putting your friend in his crate while you’re gone, you’ll help prevent unnecessary mistakes along the way. Even dogs that are not housebroken will rarely go to toilet where they sleep. If you have to leave for a while, be sure to let your dog out to go to the bathroom when you get home so that the training continues. And when you’re gone a long time, make sure to have someone reliable take him out.

Lastly, remember to give your dog a lot of praise when they go to the bathroom where they are supposed to, especially when you are first starting out. Before you know it, your new friend will adjust and make himself right at home. It may be a while before your dog is completely housebroken, and you may have to deal with a couple of accidents while you wait, but if you train him consistently and correctly, you will housebreak him.

Searching for information about outdoor dog kennels? You have landed on the right page. Here is a listing of the most frequently asked questions on outdoor dog kennels.

Are outdoor dog kennels safe for pets all year?
If you are living in a surroundings that experiences intense temperature or cold you may not want to keep your four-legged friend in an outdoor dog kennel constantly. Make sure you understand what temperatures your pet could endure and bring them inside in case it is freezing or too warm.

How large is an outdoor dog Kennel?
An outdoor dog kennel could be as small as 6 by 6 feet and as huge as 15 by fifteen feet. There are different dimensions available online nowadays. Furthermore, it can be possible to get outdoor dog kennels custom made for your backyard.

How high must the outdoor dog kennel be?
The height of any outdoor dog kennel will depend on the type of dog you might have and how high it can jump. If you have a very little pet a four feet tall outdoor dog kennel can be suitable. On the other hand, a huge dog may need a kennel that is at least twelve feet tall. It’s also wise to think about if the dog could climb on anything else to jump over the top of the kennel.

What is an outdoor dog kennel made from?
In most cases outdoor dog kennels are created from chain link fence or wire. This allows your dog to have plenty of air and sunshine. However, certain outdoor dog kennels have roofs made of other materials that may keep out the rainwater or hot sun.

My issue on outdoor dog kennels didn’t get included in these five questions. Any other suggestions for information?
There aren’t too many internet sites that have answers to your questions on outdoor dog kennels. One site that I do suggest for outdoor dog kennel “frequently asked questions”, though, is http://outdoor-dog-kennel.bidandblog.com . Within bidandblog’s free of charge forum (which is exclusively devoted to outdoor dog kennels), you will get virtually every answer to every question that you could possibly possess. The web community also contains realtime auctions for outdoor dog kennels in addition to a no cost email service that will email you any time a new outdoor dog kennel auction is listed. Not to mention that it’s pretty fun to chew the fat with others who are also buying a outdoor dog kennel

Once decided on adopting a dog, the next step to take is the type of doghouse that you will need. The doghouse depends on the dog breed that you want. Dogs grow very fast and allowances must be taken to insure that the doghouse will shelter the dog when it is full-grown.

The Doghouse Type

This is a great time to practice creativity. There are quite a lot of styles of doghouses as there are houses for people. For people that want to exercise fun and creativity, doghouse styles could be constructed to look like a miniature single room white house complete with a blue room or just have the blue room instead. It could even look like the basic structure of your house with the inside looking like your room. It can be constructed to look like a chalet, a lean to, a box or a cage. There are a lot of choices. The only must is that the doghouse will fit the dog enough to have him move comfortably and that the roof will not be so hot during summer months. Another important item is a door. In areas where there are very cold seasons, a door should be opted instead of the usual open hole.

Determining the Size

Determining doghouse sizes are personal choices. You could construct the doghouse as big as you want. However, you cannot build a doghouse smaller than this:
Height: to determine a comfortable height that is also enough to insure good air circulation, add 9 inches to the height of a fully-grown dog of the same breed.
Length: to determine the shortest length for a doghouse, add one and one half foot from the length of the dog starting from the tip of the nose to its rump.
Width: to decide the narrowest width of the doghouse that would provide enough space for the dog to move around, add one foot to the length of the dog, this is the narrowest space for your width.

Choosing the Location

The ideal area to be chosen as the location for building the dog house is a level ground that is free from water run-off. Clear the site where the doghouse will be built down to the short grass. Pack the ground tightly before building. In some areas where there are extreme changes in weather, you may need to insulate the doghouse or consider air conditioning. This is more important when you have an outdoor dog breed. There are many choices for roofing but often, a wooden roof is sufficiently cool. For flooring you may want lumber or vinyl as these are easily cleaned.

For health reasons, the doghouse is usually constructed a few inches from the ground. This also wards off insects and other small animals from entering aside from insuring that the place remains dry. Then you begin building.

When pressed for time and you would prefer doghouse kits, there are so many varieties that are available that are pre-fabricated and are available in your local pet shops.

We have a tendency to all love our dogs and need to relinquish them the simplest life has to offer. However with thus many variations of dog food within the market, it isn’t invariably simple to spot the most effective food for our dog. Who will presumably feel confident when thus many brands trumpet buzzwords that hit the human aisles not long ago, such as “wealthy in antioxidants,” “highly digestible,” “Omega-three fatty acids” and “Ultra Premium Formula”?

What we can do, though, is to conduct a easy dog food comparison to work out that foods best work our dog’s needs and our personal schedule. When all, some foods supply abundant larger convenience than the additional natural, less processed varieties of food that may need freezing, thawing, cooking and preparation.

Convenience aside, the best food to convey your dog depends not on the whole or the design, however rather on your dog’s age and any special necessities he would possibly have. For example, older dogs need food containing a careful balance of protein, fat and fiber. Most industrial dog food firms address this want with offerings such as senior dog food, containing concerning 18 % protein, and food for dogs diagnosed with renal failure, containing concerning 14% protein.

Dare to Compare Dry Dog Food

The overwhelming majority of dog homeowners select dry dog food. Between the supermarket and specialty pet stores, house owners relish several brands to choose from. Dry dog food consists of kibble sometimes made from one primary ingredient like chicken, beef or lamb. A lot of specifically, the most ingredient is sometimes a meat byproduct that’s been processed, dried and sold in packs or bags for straightforward dispensing. Needless to say, meat byproducts are way cheaper than meat, therefore this kind of dog food is not only easy to store, it’s abundant more cost-effective than other types.

Onerous kibble comes with some advantages. For instance, it provides your dog’s mouth some exercise, and kibble’s less doubtless to contribute to plaque than softer foods.

When comparing brands, it helps to remember that there are basically 2 sorts of dry dog food available: premium dog food and economy dog food. A sensible owner can avoid purchasing the economy food, that is made from lower grade ingredients (for instance, economy dog food will often substitute cheap corn for the a lot of expensive meat byproducts). The “end” result, because it were, is that your dog can’t absorb many nutrients but simply passes the food through his body. Thus additionally to enjoying less nutrition, your dog will turn out larger stools — and you would possibly realize yourself with a lot of frequent vet bills.

Other Standard Contenders: Canned, Semi-Moist and A lot of

Different classes of dog food embody the semi-moist type and canned food. Several homeowners like to combine in some canned food with dry food, to doubtless cover a lot of nutritional bases without taking too big a success to the pocketbook.

Semi-moist food is attractively convenient to house owners, and dogs love it. Sadly, it could cause dental problems within the mid-term and worse in the long run, because semi-moist food is loaded with corn syrup and different sugars, that dogs simply aren’t designed to process.

Recently, additional natural, “premium” dog food has been introduced to the market, in that higher quantities of quality, nutritious ingredients are used to manufacture the food — typically human-grade, in fact. Since vegetables, fruits, real meat and quality grains are used as the first protein source in the best-quality dog foods, these foods are a quick route to healthy skin and stunning fur. For the foremost part, they contain no artificial coloring and preservatives, however are chock-full of vitamins and minerals instead.

Though this food prices a lot of, you’ll feed your dog less of it, as a result of it’s a lot of nutritionally dense. Thus in terms of both convenience and nutrition, a premium, natural dog food is one among the most effective selections available to your dog, whether or not off-the-shelf or purchased online.

Make Sure the Problem is Behavioral.

When your dog has a biting problem, begin behavior modification only when you have eliminated the possibility of a physiological defect. To carry out this task, have a vet do a thorough physical inspection of your pet.Labwork, including a CBC, a thyroid panel and serum chemistry test, can eliminate chemical imbalances that could explain the aggressiveness.Your vet can address the behavior problems if it’s physiological.A treatment can effectively stop your dog’s aggressiveness.

When you’re sure it’s not a physiological defect, begin behavior modification to change your dog’s dog behavior.

Hire a Trainer or Train Him Yourself?

Consider two things to help you pick:

Your commitment to see the process through. Are you committed to do what it takes to turn negative behavior into a positive temperament? You’ll have to to put in an hour every day for weeks, perhaps months to complete the task. You may wish to sign up for an online dog-training course.

The concerns your dog presents. If your dog is still a little puppy, you’d be able to control him better.Younger, smaller dogs are easier to manage than huge, adult dogs; they’re also not as risky as they’re not as strong.Dog owners have been sued and their pets put down for causing trouble with other people.

You can learn more about dog fear aggression Dog Fear Aggression.

Changing Dog Behavior with Positive Reinforcement.

Affirmative pre-conditioning is the guideline used in the various techniques to behavior modification. If you’ve heard of the term in human physiology classes, you don’t find it surprising it’s used in odg behavior also. After all, people acknowledge dog intelligence.

Basically, positive pre-conditioning in canines works like it does in humans.Praising excellent behavior calls for repeating the behavior.

Think about play-biting in puppies.Look intently and you’ll see young puppies nipping at each other for mommmy’s nipples.Soon, a pup cries in pain and turns away from the game.

A puppy abandons his fellow pups is pre-conditioning at its finest. The puppy leaving the game tells his fellows the game has gone too rough and that biting hard is hurting him.The guilty pup learns the fun stops when he bites too hard; it goes on if he’s just play-biting.
