When you adopt a puppy, there are training matters that need to be addressed from the beginning. Although the puppy is definitely adorable, if certain dog behavior problems are not addressed at the outset, and if alpha dominance is not established by you from the start, the puppy will grow up with irritating behaviors that will be much harder to break as a grown dog. There are very straightforward solutions to many problem behaviors, and if the training is started as soon as the new dog enters the house, many of the problems will not even manifest, since they were addressed the first time that they manifested. For example making messes inside is best dealt with early on through puppy house training.

Barking

Individuals will go to a trainer to help them tackle lots of dog behavior problems which can occur. One of these is too much barking. There are some dogs that seem to bark at every possible noise, person, another dog or animal, just for fun. This can become a pain, and also to the neighbors, especially if the individual lives in an apartment or condominium. If you want to know how to stop a dog barking then first start with some basic dog training.

Digging

Digging holes is another dog behavior problem. This can be a hard issue to break once it has started and can create significant damage and even safety problems if it is not corrected. Digging not only creates holes in the backyard, but can ruin flower beds Dogs will often dig near the edge of the yard so that the holes could go under the fence, allowing it to get away and the chance of harm to come to the dog. This digging not only creates holes in the garden, but can destroy a garden.

Food aggression

If there are multiple pets in the home, there can also be a dog behavior problem with food aggression. There are some dogs that start to protect their food from your other pets, snarling at them or chasing them away from their food dish. Such behavior can lead to biting, and aggressive behavior can be manifested towards the children if they are nearby.

Other dog behavior problems

There is also dog to dog hostility that can take place between certain dogs, especially with two male dogs that are not neutered. In addition to these violence related issues, there are also dog behavior problems involving a variety of other issues such as thieving issues, chewing problems, running away, whining and separation anxiety.

Having a well-mannered dog around the house requires time spent on training.Your little doggie would have aged a few months prior to the training’s completion.Pups spend some time getting used to being up and about on their own.Dogs are not born with bowel and bladder control so the young ones can’t hold it as long as the older ones.

You’d need to know how to passively train your pup because you can’t be there to watch him 24/7.

Before proceeding, you can find out more with this article on Find Out How To Stop Dog Chewing.

While You Were Away.

Paper training is the most sensible way to ensure continued house-training without your constant monitoring. Here are useful pieces of information to help you do it:

Pick a room in the house where you can leave your pup when you’d be gone for hours. When you’re about to leave and be gone for hours, deposit your puppy in and lock the door.Line the floor with old magazine pages.Make sure he has everything he needs with him in the room – food, toys, bed, water.

Initially, you’ll be cleaning after your pet a lot as he will soil the entire room.Be patient when you come home. Clean up after your pet and line the room with fresh sheets. In a few weeks, your puppy will show obvious preference for a small area on the floor to eliminate on.When you can clearly see which area your pet prefers, begin removing some of the papers.

See more information on Stop Dog Whining.

Take away the farthest of the paper lining pieces first.Proceed slowly, removing an inch or two of the papering, toward the dog’s preferred deposit spot.In time, leaving a few sheets on the floor will suffice. You’ll know you’re moving too fast when your puppy soils the area beyond where the papers lie.Line more paper back the next day so that you again leave your pet with a wider spot to poop on.When your pet’s showing dependable pooping on one or two sheets you put on the floor, begin working on moving it to your desired spot.

Slowly move the piece of paper toward where you want your dog to do his business.Move it forward every day, like you did earlier. If your pet does his busiiness outside the papering again, it means you’re pushing it too much; bring it back to where he reliably pooped on it last.Restart the exercise and proceed as usual, until the paper is where you choose and your dog demonstrates he only poops there.

Some problems are to be Expected.

Be patient when passively housebreaking your pet.If your pup appears to be going back to old habits, don’t worry too much.Simply go back to a wider area.

House-training your pet happens over time. It’s commonly done after your dog has aged a few months. As do other mammals, young dogs go through an adjustment period, getting used to life outside of mommy’s womb.Bowel and bladder control is not innate in canines; young pups can’t hold it as long as the adults.

You won’t be able to keep track of your pet’s whereabouts activities all day; you need a passive approach to house-training so that it continues even while you’re out.

Before continuing, check out this article on Tips on How To Stop Dog Chewing.

While You Were Not In.

The easiest way to ensure contnued house-training despite being unsupervised is paper training. Here’s how to do it:

Choose a room to be your puppy’s day home. When you’re leaving for work and would be gone until evening, bring your pet into the room and lock him in.Put a mat of papers on to the floor covering the entire floor area.Leave all his things with him – bed, food, water bowl and toys.

Initially, you’ll be cleaning after your pet a lot as he will soil the entire room.Be patient when you come home. Clean up after your pet and line the room with fresh sheets. In time, your pup will manifest a preference for a certain spot on the floor for doing his business. When the rest of the papers remain dry and clean all day, you can start taking some of the paper lining off the floor.

See additional information on Stop Dog Whining.

Start taking away the sheets farthest from the obvious poop preference area of your puppy.Proceed deliberately, removing an inch or two of the lining, toward the dog’s preferred deposit spot.In time, leaving a few sheets on the floor will suffice. You’ll know you’re moving too fast when your puppy soils the area beyond where the papers lie.Move back to laying more paper, recovering a larger space on the floor.Down to one or two sheets with your pet pooping reliably on the sheets, you can start working toward moving his elimination spot to where you prefer it.

Inch the paper daily toward the spot in the room where you’d like the dog to poop on.Push it forward a little every day, similar to when you were reducing the papering on the floor. You know you’re moving too fast too soon when poop winds up outside the papered area; move it back to where your pup pooped on it previously.Restart the exercise until you get the paper to where you want it and your pup can be depended on to do his business only where he’s supposed to.

Some problems are Typical.

When doing passive house training, you need to persevere.Don’t let it discourage you when your pup seems to be relapsing to old habits after some progress.Simply revert to a wider area.
